How the right tradie can make renovation easy

With a new baby and a toddler, Caroline and Adrian knew that undertaking the renovation their home desperately needed was beyond their own resources. 

The couple’s three-bedroom, one-bathroom NSW home, where they have lived for seven years, was in need of a thorough refresh so they turned to Channel 9’s Space Invaders team to provide the “uplift” it needed.

“It’s a 1980s house that had been a rental before we bought it and needed a lot of renovation,” says Caroline. 

“With two little ones and two dogs, we just didn’t have the time or money to do the work ourselves.”

Enter Cherie Barber, who could see that a team of trusted tradies was required, fast. By taking quick snaps of the work that needed doing, and giving a short description, Cherie was able to easily list the jobs on the hipages app – before she knew it, three local tradies had responded, providing quotes and availability. 

Soon, a transformation that delighted Caroline had been achieved. 

The kitchen, with its new white benchtops and cupboards, and a new splashback featuring mint green tiles is light and bright again. And the out-of-sight, out-of-mind work that went into the necessary plumbing work to complete the kitchen’s new functionality has also made a big difference. 

Throughout the house, new hybrid flooring has replaced the old tiles and the hallway, master bedroom and dining room have been smartened up with VJ panelling. 

Caroline is thrilled with the end result.
