Concept, Feasibility & Sketch Design

The way in which you begin, impacts the way you end.

Concept design of a building requires consideration across many variables, opportunities and constraints. As an idea develops, so must an understanding of its feasibility, including budget, statutory controls and site context, amongst other things.

Throughout this stage we will listen to you, and draw out your explicit (and implicit) requirements whilst at the same time having an objective, independent and lateral design approach. We will guide you through preparing your brief and visual diary for your project, including your functional requirements as well as your aspirational and aesthetic ones.

Roth Architecture offers an initial consultation where the director and principal architect, Alex Roth, will meet you at your property and will discuss your property and provide invaluable professional advice about your project in regards to planning ideas, spatial configuration as well as your property’s opportunities and constraints.

We offer a level of service that suits you and that you feel comfortable with, while ensuring that you are presented with designs that provide you with an understanding of what your project could be.

Moving through this process, you will have a thorough understanding of your property and its development potential, whether that be the best solution for creating your family home from scratch, improving the connection to your back yard and obtaining car parking, or improve the layout of your kitchen.

Council & Statutory Approvals

We approach the council approval process from the mindset of what you want to achieve and what is the best outcome for your site and project, rather than what council’s controls will allow.

Our strategic approach often means you will achieve a design that you didn’t think was possible, or someone else has told you it was impossible.

Our documentation at this stage is thorough and strategic and is designed to make it easy for council to understand the proposal, our approach and why it makes sense, even if it doesn’t necessarily tick the planning control boxes.

At this stage we offer levels of services, which range from simply providing the necessary drawings, to providing a complete service where we will provide you with everything you require for your da submission, including submitting it at council. We are happy to tailor our work to what you feel you need to get your approval, as well as provide advice as to what this may entail.

Documentation, Tendering & Contract Administration

Roth Architecture’s construction stage is developed from Alex’s extensive experience in the architecture and building industry. Knowing how builders price projects and how you understand the building cost forms the basis of how we produce our documentation.

Our documentation is designed so that after the tendering process you can see the value of items and make a comparative and informed assessment as to whether that item is worth that cost to you.

We understand that this stage of your project can be overwhelming and a lot of decisions need to be made, and we will happily guide you through these decisions, providing information about what you should consider, our experiences in a similar situation as well as industry and professional knowledge.

Again, during these stages we offer levels of services, which range from simply providing the necessary drawings, specification and schedules, to providing photo-realistic drawings, construction details, obtaining comparative trade quotes and project managing specific sub-contractors to ensure you are getting the most value for your money.
