Outdoor tiles are perfect for your entertaining areas and are also great for using around your pool. You can choose from a virtually limitless range of colours, textures, patterns and materials, and you can choose to combine different tiles however you like. However, you do need to make sure that your outdoor tiles are non slip, non porous, stain resistant, and that they are also salt safe, especially if you are using them around the pool. The most common materials for outdoor tiles are ceramic and porcelain or a combination of the two, but you can also find natural stone tiles, and terracotta tiles.

The tile supplier should be able to show you a range of tiles that are rated as being safe for outdoor use (look for the R rating – the lowest allowable rating is R9 but the higher, the better). Ideally the tiles will be laid out in a showroom environment, so that you can see how they look in a larger grouping. The supplier should also be able to provide you with samples (either free or paid) so that you can take the tile home and see how it looks in your own garden. If your tiles need periodic sealing, the supplier should advise you of this and recommend the best products to do so.
